More than a dozen police cars, a mounted unit and a helicopter converged on Uniondale High School Wednesday following numerous fights at the school in recent weeks.
School officials say police were called to break up two fights Wednesday, one in which a girl was beaten up by three other girls. One arrest was made in the incident. District officials also held a scheduled evacuation drill in the afternoon.
Police say there was word another fight was scheduled for dismissal time, which along with the drill prompted authorities to stick around and monitor the students. Police say there is no evidence any of the fights are gang related.
