Nassau police are crediting the public's help for catching an alleged serial bank robber.
Jason Ross, 29, is accused of going on bank robbery sprees in 2004 and 2008. Police say Ross always wore a baseball cap and a pair of gloves, approaching the teller with a note before leaving on foot.
The suspect is believed to be connected to 12 robberies in the past four years.
According to Detective Sgt. John Giambrone, authorities were able nab Ross after a surveillance video allegedly showing him hit a bank in Valley Stream was aired to the public. Tips through Crime Stoppers then led police to Ross.
"If you're going to do them, you're going to get caught," says Giambrone.
Police believe Ross used the pilfered money to support a drug habit.
