Nassau police say security for the first presidential debate at Hofstra University will be unprecedented.
They discussed the details of their security plan on campus Tuesday.
"Taken into consideration the world environment and direct attacks against police officers, this is arguably the most significant security event in the last 30 years in Nassau County," says acting Nassau Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter.
Officials say there will be free speech areas for an expected 10,000 protesters on the campus.
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will meet at Hofstra's David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex to discuss America's direction, achieving prosperity and securing America.
