Hundreds of police officers in Nassau County took part in an active-shooter drill Sunday at Nassau Community College.
Officers encountered actors playing the roles of shooters, bombers and innocent civilians, both injured and uninjured.
Nassau Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter says such drills are important because of the frequency of active-shooter situations in the country, and especially after the recent terror attacks in Paris.
Nassau County received a $40,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for Sunday's training.
Krumpter says he is happy with how the training went and will be reviewing how the officers responded in the coming weeks.
