Nassau officials are rolling out a new app to help substance abuse victims.
The CARES app stands for Connect, Access, Resources, Education and Support, and provides local resources and information about substance abuse, as well as recovery options in Nassau County.
The app is meant to help victims and their loved ones in emergency situations.
"I know what it’s like to be up at 3 o'clock in the morning with my son in pain and have nowhere to go...” says advocate Teri Kroll. “We have to get information out to people, it has to be easy, it has to be at your fingertips."
The app is available in both the Apple and Google app stores.
