Two Nassau County police officers and a recruit were honored in Mineola for helping to save a man's life.
On June 10, officers Kevin Chernoff and Robert Dertinger, along with recruit David Andreani, risked their lives to prevent a suicidal man from jumping off the roof of his Garden City office. The trio also had some help from a good Samaritan on the scene.
Chernoff, Dertinger and Andreani were all presented with citations at the Nassau Legislature Monday.
Officials say the man tried jumping twice but officers were able to save him both times and get him to a hospital.
