After party politics stalled business for nearly three months, the Nassau County Legislature will get back to work and keep Judy Jacobs as Presiding Officer.
A challenge by Leg. Lisanne Altmann (D-Great Neck) and Leg. Roger Corbin (D-Westbury) to obtain power from Jacobs with help from minority Republicans fell flat with a final court ruling Friday in Jacobs? favor.
The first order of business for Nassau lawmakers is to decide who sits on what committees and who chairs them. Also at issue for Democrats is whether Corbin and Altmann keep their old posts. Jacobs says she wants to find out why the two bolted to the other side and how to strengthen the party.
The full Nassau County Legislature gets back to business Wednesday.
