There's a new push to protect young athletes on Long Island.
Nassau County legislators are meeting Monday at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow to propose “Robbie’s Law,” which would require automated external defibrillators at all 200 Nassau County-owned ball fields and courts.
The law would be named after Robbie Levine, a 9-year-old boy from Merrick who died 20 years ago at practice. There was no AED on site that day.
Right now, a state law only requires camps and youth sports programs with five or more teams to have an AED on hand during all games and practices.
