The chairman of the Nassau Republican Party on Monday endorsed Donald Trump for president.

Chairman Joseph Mondello says while he doesn't agree with everything Trump says, he feels that Trump would be a good fit for president because he strikes a chord with voters who feel alienated from the government.

"My gut tells me this is the right thing to do and the right time to do it," said Mondello.

News 12 asked Nassau County Democratic chairman Jay Jacobs for his thoughts on the endorsement. He said, "To each his own. That is the chairman's perspective, I'm sure he has his reasons."
