Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman unveiled his proposed budget for the 2023 fiscal year.
The budget would maintain property taxes at their current levels and eliminate liabilities while fully funding employee pensions.
Blakeman also plans to hire additional police officers and anticipates Nassau County will no longer need a fiscal control board in the near future.
"This is a fiscally sound budget that I'm proposing for 2023," Blakeman says. ".... We are also adding 86 law enforcement personnel. I'm keeping my word, we're going to do everything we can to keep this county safe."
The budget now needs approval from the County Legislature to pass.
