Nassau EMTs, officers honored for helping delivery baby in Manhasset

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran honored the Nassau police medics and officers who raced to a home on Locust Place in Manhasset after a women went into labor this past weekend.

A special delivery in Manhasset came thanks in part to four of Nassau's finest.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran honored the Nassau police medics and officers who raced to a home on Locust Place in Manhasset after a women went into labor this past weekend.
"Within a minute of officer Owens and Torres' arrival, the mother delivered a baby girl into the arms of the father, the father handed the newborn baby girl over to officer Owens, who was prepared with his first aid kit and a bulb syringe to clear the baby's airway to make sure she was breathing properly," says Curran.
Police medics Bolivar Graffeo and Dalena Tran then gave the baby oxygen and raced her to the hospital.
Her parents named the newborn Valentina.
