Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice is warning parents to beware of social Web sites that allow children to post personal information.
Rice says Web sites like MySpace, Friendster and Xanga have become popular not only with teens, but also with sexual predators. Rice says she is ramping up her computer crimes division to watch sites like these and to stop predators from contacting unsuspecting teens.
Rice recommends that parents take more of an active roll with teens who use these types of sites. She says the best advice is to avoid putting school names, towns, addresses or anything else that could lead to identifying a child on the site.
