Fifty Nassau County police recruits were sworn in Monday.
County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder swore the recruits in at an official ceremony.
"It's always good to have the young kids come in," says Ryder. "They bring a lot of energy to the department. They want to go out and do the right thing."
The recruits will now begin a seven-month training session before they begin patrolling the streets of Nassau.
