A Nassau County police officer and his wife experienced an unforgettable moment this week when they welcomed their newborn on the side of the road on the way to the hospital.
The officer, trained in emergency response, took charge when his wife went into labor sooner than expected.
The couple was rushing to the hospital when it became clear they wouldn’t make it in time.
Pulling over safely, the officer helped deliver their baby on the roadside.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after to provide assistance and transport the family to the hospital, where both mother and baby were reported to be in good health.
The family is now recovering and celebrating their newest addition.
