The Nassau County Legislature voted unanimously today to approve $455 million in bonds to fix the Bay Park Sewage Treatment Plant, which was damaged during Superstorm Sandy.

The money will be used to repair the plant's electrical system and get rid of generators which have been making a lot of noise.

The Legislature approved an initial round of funding over the summer, but some Democratic lawmakers didn't want to sign off on the rest of the money until they knew that the county could get reimbursed from the state or federal government.

Under the agreement, the Legislature will get monthly updates and hold quarterly hearings on the progress of the repairs.
