Nassau County officials paid cash for illegal guns Saturday -- no questions asked.
The gun buyback program took place at the Bethlehem of Judea Church on Greenwich Street in Hempstead.
Guns had to be transported in the trunk, unloaded and placed in a shoe box or bag. Officials are paying $100 for rifles, $200 for handguns and $400 for assault weapons.
Police say the goal is to get dangerous weapons off the streets.
