The Long Island Children’s Museum in Garden City held a special event Monday to mark National Adoption Day.
Adoptions would normally be done in a courtroom setting, but as part of the celebration the adoptions were made final at the museum and a reception followed.
The Nassau County Department of Social Services and Nassau County Family Court hosted the 16th annual ceremony.
Officials say Nassau finalized more than 260 adoptions since National Adoption Day started 15 years ago.
News 12 spoke to an 18-year-old who is now officially adopted by her foster family. The Bryant family, of Baldwin, has been taking care of her and her four siblings for the past two years and today they officially adopted all of them.
