Residents say their community is already overcrowded, but a new development may be coming to Glenwood Landing. The old Harbor Fuel property, located off Shore Road, is currently home to dilapidated buildings and rusting storage tanks. Developers want to build a 60-unit condo complex on the property, which is located in the town of North Hempstead. However, the area surrounding the property, including streets and homes, is located in the town of Oyster Bay. Now, the decision to rezone the land from industrial to residential use is in the hands of North Hempstead administrators. North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman says the town is considering the zone change. An attorney for the developer says public access to the waterfront will also be created. Residents, however, say the only thing that should be built on the property is a public park.
