Museum of American Armor honors vets who made the ultimate sacrifice
A special ceremony was held Sunday at the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage to honor veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The event featured the names of Long Island residents who were killed while serving the country.
Gary Lewi, a museum board member, believes it's the museum's job to teach younger generations about veterans and the country's battles.

“This part of history is not being adequately taught in classrooms. If we don't step up to the plate and teach a brand new generation regarding the legacy, the courage, the sacrifice of our vets, then who will?” asks Lewi.

The museum says the most important part of its program is making it an interactive learning experience for kids.
The event also featured reenactments and vehicles used during different wars.

While the museum says it considered Sunday an exceptional opportunity to teach young people about Veteran's Day, it makes it their mission to teach our nation's history every day.
