A village is considering a crackdown on curbside basketball hoops.

Munsey Park Trustee Patrick Hance says the village's board strictly enforces the basketball hoop law to ensure that Munsey Park maintains its classic look, as well as for safety reasons.

He says that residents can have a basketball hoop, but they can't set one up on the street.

"You can have if it's up close to your house, but you can't have it further down the driveway or in the street," Hance says.

Hance says that the basketball hoop rule has always been in place, but said the board has been forced to clarify the matter after one homeowner challenged the interpretation of the law.

The board will discuss the issue again at a meeting on Feb. 12.
