Multiple fire departments respond to fire at Lynbrook home

Fire officials say a call reporting the incident at 579 Scranton Ave. came in just after 2 a.m. Six departments worked for around two hours to get the flames under control.

Multiple fire departments responded to a Lynbrook home after a fire broke out overnight.
Fire officials say a call reporting the incident at 579 Scranton Ave. came in just after 2 a.m.
The fire was located on the third floor and authorities say it was accidental.
Six departments worked for around two hours to get the flames under control. The responding departments included Lynbrook, Valley Stream, East Rockaway, Rockville Centre, Malverne and Woodmere.
Officials say one firefighter was hospitalized for injuries after falling at the scene. He is now OK.
Officials say the homeowner was able to return after the scene was cleared and retrieve some of her belongings.
The American Red Cross is working to help the homeowner, according to authorities.
