Multiple clean-up efforts are happening in Stony Brook Thursday in the area around Harbor Road, which collapsed as a result of massive flooding.

Volunteers and members of the Mill Pond Fishing Club will be getting in what's left of the pond, which was destroyed after the dam collapsed, to rescue what remains of the 1,500 fish that called it home. One member, who has been closely monitoring the situation, says he estimates only 17 fish remain. They'll be relocated to a safer area.

The Ward Melville Heritage Organization will be nearby at Mill Creek to clean up debris that the storm left behind. Their efforts will focus on the area around the Hercules Pavilion to the Stony Brook Grist Mill.

Elected officials have stressed that rebuilding Harbor Road and the area around it will take time. Residents volunteering their time say they're doing so to get the ball rolling, as they'd like to get back to enjoying the area they call home as quickly as possible.
