The fighting spirit was in the air at Mulcahy's Thursday with the FDNY hoping to take home some trophies all for a good cause.
It was the first time the FDNY fought on Long Island since 1992. New York's bravest took on the Denver Fire and Sheriff's departments to battle it out for charity.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to building Homes for Heroes and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Bobby McGuire, president of the FDNY Bravest Boxing Team, says the plan is to raise $30,000. The FDNY Bravest Boxing Team, a nonprofit, was founded in 1982 and raises awareness and funds for charitable organizations through charity boxing matches.
"Gonna be some real spirited fights you know we're fighting not only for the charity but also for company pride and city pride," says McGuire. "So, we don't want Denver to walk out of here with any of the big trophies or the little trophies."
McGuire says the nonprofit tries to hold events at least four times a year.
