The first public hearing on a proposal to add a third Long Island Rail Road track in Nassau County will be held this morning.
The MTA is urging concerned Long Islanders to attend.
Matt LaRocco, who lives in Floral Park, where the new track will run through, says it will create traffic problems and be an inconvenience. Other residents of Floral Park have also voiced opposition to the idea.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the $1.5 billion proposal in January. He says that the LIRR needs improvements, and that a third track is necessary for increasing its reliability and speed.
