MTA increasing service on several subway lines
The agency says the N and R lines will have two minutes taken off the usual 10-minute headways. Cut times will also only average up to four minutes.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced on Tuesday it will be increasing service on multiple lines across Brooklyn and New York City.
The agency announced extra service on the N and R trains after riders demanded more service on these lines as ridership continues to rise to pre-pandemic levels.
The N and R lines will have two minutes taken off the usual 10-minute headways. Cut times will also only average up to four minutes.
"Again, it doesn't sound like a lot, but these minutes add up,” said MTA President Richard Davey. “They're adding up on the G, J and M where we added service earlier this year.”
Riders believe convenience is important to the community and many are looking forward to the changes.
The MTA says more trains will be added to the lines between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and that they are looking to add more crew members on the subways.
The service increase will be made possible thanks to $35 million included in the New York State budget to increase transit service all across the system.
The service change is expected to take effect on Monday, Aug. 28.
