Suffolk police say a motorcyclist was killed in a crash Sunday morning in Lindenhurst.
It happened around 10:30 a.m. on Sunrise Highway.
According to police, 29-year-old Marlon Meza, of Copiague, was heading east on his motorcycle on Sunrise Highway when he collided with a 2009 Mercedes-Benz sedan. The sedan had made a U-turn from westbound to eastbound on Sunrise Highway at Catskill Avenue, according to police.
Meza was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Mercedes, identified as 69-year-old Daria Williams, of West Islip, was not injured.
Sunrise Highway was closed for hours between Fourth Street and Straight Path while investigators processed the scene.
People who live and drive in the area say crashes at the intersection are common. Some are calling for safety upgrades in the area.
