Mother arrested in death of 1-year-old baby in Queens

The mother of a one-year-old who died in a Queens home has been arrested.

Police say Nicole Boodhai, 28, has been arrested and charged with murder and endangering the welfare of a child.

On Monday, police responded to a 911 call for an assault at 108-33 157th St. just after 1:30 p.m. They found Charlie Ramraykha, 1, unconscious and unresponsive. Police also found Boodhai with slash wounds to her wrist.

EMS transported both victims to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where Ramraykha was pronounced deceased. Boodhai is expected to recover.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
