Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Rich Hoffman is tracking a coastal low that will pass east of Long Island by Saturday. The weather looks unsettled with clouds, showers and gusty winds into the weekend. The best chance for rain will be over eastern Suffolk County. The biggest question is where does the heaviest rain fall. Some models have it over Long Island, some just east over the ocean. It will be a close call, so it's time to have the umbrella handy.
TODAY: Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 73. Tracking some scattered showers toward evening.
TONIGHT: Scattered showers, best chance for rain is Suffolk County. Cloudy, with a low around 66.
THURSDAY: Scattered showers, the best chance for steadier rain will be over the East End. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.
FRIDAY: Scattered showers, best chance for wet weather will be over the East End. Breezy, some wind gusts 20 to 40 mph. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71.
FRIDAY NIGHT: A 30% chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60.
