While thousands are standing on lines at shopping malls across the Island, a different kind of line was formed overnight in Patchogue.
Hundreds of needy parents spent hours waiting on line for the chance to get holiday toys for their kids through the Lighthouse Mission?s Christmas Gift-Giving Program. The mission, which serves the needy year round, hands out the presents that are all donated by the public.
Organizers say they had a record number of people show up for presents Tuesday and are hoping donations will keep up with the need. Residents can donate toys by calling the mission at 631-758-7584.
