Hermine's effects were being felt Monday on Suffolk County's South Shore, as the storm continued to spin several hundred miles off shore.
Waves crashed along some South Shore beaches like Smith Point Park. Other areas like Lindenhurst saw some minor street flooding, and it was a similar situation in Brightwaters.
After Hermine appeared to decrease in intensity, Suffolk officials revoked their urged voluntary evacuation of Fire Island.
In Ocean Beach, as with most of the South Shore, there was some concern about beach erosion, but officials say it wasn't that bad this time around. The village received some minor flooding in the downtown area; however, officials said it is relatively normal when a storm passes through.
Many residents on the South Shore tell News 12 they were lucky when it comes to the impact of Hermine, although they will still be keeping a close eye on the ocean just in case.
