Officer Wayne Resnick, 28, was named Nassau's Top Cop of
December at the County Legislature on Monday.
Resnick, who has served as a correction officer and 911
dispatcher, is a law enforcement veteran who continued to report for
duty after being diagnosed with ALS in April.
“It's not just about one incident or one major arrest that
somebody makes – it’s the dedication and sacrifice our police officers do on a
daily basis and throughout their career,” said Tommy Shevlin, the president
of the Nassau County PBA. “Wayne has always done the right thing for the
community that he served.”
Family and friends were there to celebrate with him.
