The last big weekend of summer is here and millions of Americans are hitting the roads to celebrate Labor Day.

The Port Authority says it expects more than seven million people to travel through the area by plane, train and automobile.

To accommodate the Labor Day weekend traffic, the Port Authority has suspended construction on all its bridges and crossings.

Meanwhile, the LIRR is adding nine extra trains this afternoon for an early start to the holiday weekend. Tomorrow and Sunday, the LIRR will operate on a regular weekend schedule and on Monday it is on a holiday schedule.

Meanwhile, gas prices are rising. The average Long Island gallon of gas has jumped 9 cents in just one day. On Thursday, Long Islanders were paying $2.57 a gallon, today the average price is $2.66.

Officials say it is because so much Gulf Coast oil production has been lost to Harvey.
