Workers expecting to be laid off from the historic Milleridge Inn at the end of the year received an early Christmas present Friday.
Owen Smith, the longtime operator of the inn, has announced that a new operator will take over with no layoffs in place.
As News 12 has reported, 75 full-time employees at the 400-year-old landmark had received pink slips last month.
The notices were handed out in anticipation of the property's lease expiration at the end of the year.
Over 17,000 supporters signed an online petition to put pressure on Kimco Realty to save the historic site.
The new operator, who has not yet been named, will officially take over on Jan. 1. News 12 is told everything will remain the same, including the menu and the staff.
