A former Huntington Station teacher who disappeared from a halfway house after being convicted of possessing child pornography has been found dead in an apparent suicide, police say.
The body of Michael Reiner was discovered in the Hudson River near the Town of Wappinger on Thursday, according to officials.
Federal authorities had been looking for Reiner since May 31, when the registered sex offender didn't show up for work.
Reiner had worked for the Long Island School for the Gifted before he was arrested and convicted for having sexually explicit photographs of children. Prosecutors say he also wrote about cannibalism and eating children.
