"The Interview" was released in a limited number of theaters Christmas Day, including sold out shows at Merrick Cinemas.
Sony announced last week that it would not release the controversial film following a cyber-attack against the company. Hackers also made threats against moviegoers and theaters. The U.S. government later blamed North Korea for the hack.
The film's plot involves a plan to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jung-un.
People who spoke with News 12 say they were not worried about any threats. They also said that they were seeing the movie to support free speech rights.
