Members of the community rolled up their sleeves on Saturday in honor of a fallen Suffolk County police officer.
As News 12 has reported, Officer Glen Ciano was struck and killed by a drunken driver in 2009. A blood drive was held in honor of Ciano at the Commack Fire House, and it was attended by friends and loved ones.
At the firehouse, where Ciano spent many days, his locker is still in the same spot and members say there have always been fresh flowers placed by it since he was killed in 2009.
Sue Ciano, Glen's high school sweetheart, says it's stories like those that keep her going.
Fred Leyboldt was Ciano's partner on the force for almost 10 years. He says there isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't think of his friend. "We still haven't gotten over the loss. He was a great guy, he was a great cop, just a great person," he says.
Organizers say they were able to collect more than 150 pints of blood at Saturday's drive.
