(AP) - A Yale graduate student whose body wasfound hidden in a wall in her lab building was suffocated, according to autopsy released Wednesday, hours after a "person ofinterest" was questioned and released.
Dr. Wayne Carver's office released the results three days afterthe body of 24-year-old Annie Le was found in a Yale medical schoolresearch building. Carver had previously announced Le's death as ahomicide.
The office says her death was caused by "traumatic asphyxia dueto neck compression." That means the cause could include a chokehold or some other form of suffocation caused by a hand or anobject, such as a pipe, though authorities are not releasingdetails on her manner of death.
Earlier Wednesday, police released a Yale animal researchtechnician from custody after collecting DNA samples andquestioning him in Le's killing. Raymond Clark III had been takenin Tuesday night at his apartment in Middletown, Conn., and wasreleased to his attorney, New Haven police said.
The attorney, David Dworski, of Fairfield, said his client is"committed to proceeding appropriately with the authorities." Hewould not comment further.
Investigators are hoping to figure out within days whether Clarkcan be ruled out as the killer. He has been described as a personof interest, not a suspect, in Le's death. Her body was foundSunday, which was to have been her wedding day.
