Police say a Mastic Beach man is dead after falling off a forklift at work.
Police say Santos Ortiz was operating a forklift at Kurt Weiss Greenhouse in Center Moriches just after 6 p.m. Tuesday when the incident occurred.
Ortiz somehow lost control of the vehicle, hit his head on a metal post and fell to the ground.
Ortiz was rushed to the hospital but died a short time later.
