A couple from Massapequa are the latest Long Islanders charged in connection with the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
Kevin Moore, 61, and his wife Carol, 57, are accused of illegally entering the Capitol building.
According to authorities, the pair entered through the Senate wing door.
Federal authorities say Kevin Moore also aggressively yelled and gestured at a law enforcement officer.
In a statement, an attorney for the couple said that they are “peace-loving, patriotic Americans who gave voice to their genuine concerns about the integrity of the 2020 presidential election.”
Kevin Moore works for the MTA as a structure maintainer. According to the MTA, he had an approved absence on Jan. 6 and has been on requested leave since April.
Their attorney added that Kevin Moore is a 9/11 first responder and he and his wife were at the Capitol on Jan. 6 lawfully showing their support and giving aid to others who had been sprayed with Mace.
Both are charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct. They were released Thursday without having to post bail.
