The brains behind Manhattan's Super Bowl Week festivities belong to a Long Island native.
Mary Pat Augenthaler, the NFL Vice President of Event Production and a Port Washington native, has been working on the Super Bowl Boulevard concept for nearly two years. The boulevard begins at Times Square and stretches for 13 blocks. It features stages for live performance, TVs and interactive areas.
Augenthaler estimates nearly 1 million people will visit Super Bowl Boulevard to check out the different networks covering the game, the autograph sessions and Broadway performances.
"The Jersey Boys will be here. The Rockettes will be here. We like to say that there's stuff to do for people from 2 to 92," Augenthaler told News 12.
Nearly all of the planned events are free and open to the public.
The Denver Broncos will take on the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium on Feb. 2.
