With Thanksgiving Day two weeks away, Stop and Shop's Turkey Express has begun delivering thousands of birds.
A total of 2,400 frozen birds are being donated to Island Harvest and Long Island Cares in Hauppauge just in time for Thanksgiving.
"What usually happens is that people who are in need come to the soup kitchens and food pantries for the turkeys and trimmings we provide," says Randi Shubin Dresner, of Island Harvest. "We give it to the food pantries and they give it out to the community. "
Marines are helping deliver the turkeys.
This is the 10th year the Turkey Express has donated to Long Island's needy.
