Year-round houseboat residents in Manorhaven say their power was cut about a week ago.
The power was shut off in Haven Marina last Friday, forcing the 30 residents to use generators. Then on Monday, their water was shut off. An unofficial eviction notice was also delivered to some of the residents.
The Nassau County Department of Health ordered the owner to restore water to the property but says it might take several weeks before the power is restored.
Residents say the sound of the generators can be unbearable at times, but they are necessary to power their homes. They also say the property is owned by Mike Bournard, who last week made a proposal to the village to shut down the marina and build condominiums.
News 12 reached out to the village of Manorhaven, which says that the location is a private marina, and that it's an issue between the landlord and tenants. The village did send a code enforcement officer to inspect the marina and found no building violations.
