Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, his wife Linda and former Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto appeared in Central Islip court Wednesday for a court conference on their corruption cases.
As News 12 has reported, the Manganos and Venditto were arrested on a slew of corruption and bribery charges. Federal prosecutors say a Long Island restaurateur, identified by sources as Harendra Singh, gave Venditto limo rides and perks. They say the Manganos received lavish gifts that included a $3,000 office chair, a massage chair, a $7,000 watch and $3,700 wood floors.
Linda Mangano is accused of accepting a high-paying no-show job. Venditto is accused of accepting bribes from Singh in return for loan guarantees.
The next court conference isn't until November and the trial isn't scheduled to start until January 2018.
The county executive told News 12 that he has no plans of stepping down.
If Mangano does try for re-election, he will have to run in a primary against former state Sen. Jack Martins – the man chosen by GOP leaders to replace the executive for the county's top job.
