Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano returned to work this morning, a day after he was in federal court facing corruption charges.
On Thursday, Mangano, his wife Linda and Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto were in federal court in Islip answering to charges.
Magano and Venditto are accused of providing favors to a prominent Nassau restaurant owner in exchange of gifts including a watch and a massage chair.
In addition, it included a no show job for Mangano's wife that paid $450,000 over four years.
Mangano granted News 12 an exclusive interview where he said the hefty charges won't weigh him down from performing his duties and pressing on with his many projects he's working on for the county.
"When you're confident that you conducted yourself properly, I'm at peace. I have respect for the process. I have respect for those in the process and I think it will be a good outcome," Mangano said.
However, political leaders from both parties are calling for his resignation.
Mangano told News 12 that it is all politics, and many of them are people trying to advance their own careers.
"Many of them are lawyers and they should have more respect for the process. They themselves have their own issues, so maybe they want to look in the mirror and ask themselves that question," Mangano said.
A spokesperson for Oyster Bay Supervisor Venditto tells News 12 he did not return to work today and is thinking about the events of yesterday and how they impact his ability to go forward.
