A man faces a murder charge after police were called to a Shirley home where they found a body in a shed Sunday.
Police said the girlfriend of Kofi Witt called 911. "She said her boyfriend had told her that he had killed someone and that he was contemplating suicide," said Suffolk Detective Sgt. Edward Fandrey.
Authorities said they found the body of Stephen Hazzard, of East Patchogue, in a shed behind the Avondale Drive home, where they found Witt. According to police, Witt?s throat was slashed.
Officials believe the body may have been in the shed since Saturday and they say the victim was beaten.
Witt has been charged with second-degree murder. Authorities are trying to unravel the motive behind the incident.
