Man who posed as minor, killed 12-year-old Montgomery boy in foster care up for parole

Loved ones of a 12-year-old boy murdered by a man posing as a child in foster care more than two decades ago are rallying to keep his killer behind bars.
Danny Meyer was killed on his way to a Little League baseball game in Montgomery in 1996.
Juan Peinado was 22 years old at the time when he was posing as a minor and going to Valley Central Middle School as a foster child.
Peinado was sentenced to 25 years to life for fatally stabbing Meyer and is now up for parole.
“It feels like we get a sigh of relief for two days and then it’s like, oh my goodness, we have to do this again," said family friend Shannon Malone. "His sentence was 25 years to life. He’s in his 40s. He has a life to live after this and if he is paroled, I believe that he is a predator and will commit another serious crime."
A petition to keep Meyer’s killer behind bars has more than 2,000 signatures.
