Man saves service dog from Oyster Bay waters, is then rescued by police

Police say the 34-year-old was walking his dog last night around 8:30 p.m. when the dog took a swim.

Police say a man and his service dog are OK this afternoon after they were rescued Sunday from the waters of Oyster Bay.

Police say the 34-year-old was walking his dog around 8:30 p.m. when the dog took a swim.

According to police, the dog got stuck under a dock and his owner went in to get him.

The man got the dog to safety, but police say the man then needed to be rescued.

Officers had to use a life preserver and rescue line.'

The man was not hurt.
