Man killed in East Quogue mining accident
Police and federal safety officials are investigating a deadly accident at East Coast Mines in East Quogue.
Police say Declan Boland, of Riverhead, was standing on a hill at the facility when it suddenly collapsed Friday.
The 50-year-old was buried in mulch and dirt according to Southampton Town Police.
Workers and police dug him out, but he was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Medical Center a short time later.
