Police are investigating the death of a man found slumped over a steering wheel Saturday night on a usually quiet residential Elmont street.
Police say a resident of 240th Street saw a minivan parked in front of a home with the interior light on and the driver's door ajar. When officers responded to the scene, they found the victim, in his thirties, slumped over the steering wheel of the rented vehicle.
Investigators believe robbery was not the motive because the victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, still had money in his possession.
"You don't really see a lot of commotion out here," said resident Michael Texidor. "Everybody kind of knows who's coming in and out of the block," he said of the dead-end street.
Nassau police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
