A man convicted in the fatal 2021 shooting at a Stop & Shop in West Hempstead has been sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.
Manager Ray Wishropp, a father of seven, was killed in the shooting. Two other people were injured.
Rupert Wishropp, Ray's father, was in tears in the courtroom.
"If he had changed his mind, I would have had my son and he would have had his freedom," Rupert Wishropp said.
Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said the case was one of the first incidents that could have been a mass shooting in Nassau.
Wilson was found guilty last month on seven of nine charges, including murder. He told the court he has been praying for forgiveness and accepts the consequences.
Stop & Shop released a statement saying it will continue to honor the memory of their colleague Ray Wishropp and to support their associates impacted by this tragedy.
